1 Million Computers: Zinox Partners KongaCares to Transform Nigerian Schools
GITEX Nigeria 2025 was a defining moment for Nigeria’s technology ecosystem. The event, held at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos, attracted thousands of technology professionals and stakeholders from across Africa. Among the major highlights was the launch of the Computerise Nigeria Initiative, a bold collaboration between Zinox Technologies and KongaCares to transform education through technology.
A Vision for Digital Classrooms
The initiative is an ambitious one computer per child program. It will provide one million young Nigerians with laptops and the infrastructure to use them effectively. The project goes beyond device distribution. It offers uninterrupted power through iPower inverters, satellite internet powered by Starlink, and continuous training and support for students and teachers.
Mrs Kelechi Eze Okonta, Managing Director of Zinox Technologies, delivered the opening remarks. She explained that Zinox has operations in all 774 local government areas of Nigeria. This reach puts the company in a unique position to deliver the program nationwide. “If you don’t digitize the education system, you can’t digitize the economy,” she said, linking education to Nigeria’s future growth.
Support from Industry Leaders
The launch event drew industry leaders and technology champions. Present were Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman of Zinox Group, Dave Omoregie, COO of Konga Group, and Ajibade Laolu Adewale, Executive Director at Wema Bank. The Nigeria Computer Society was represented by its leadership, including Dr Muhammed Sirajo Aliyu, who praised Zinox for its consistent push for digital education.
Dr Aliyu called the initiative a landmark intervention. He credited Zinox for its history of delivering affordable tech solutions that support education. He also commended Leo Stan Ekeh for his long-term contributions to technology growth in Nigeria.
Ajibade Laolu Adewale encouraged both public and private sector players to invest more in technology education. He described science and tech learning as key to building a stronger economy.
Driving Digital Inclusion
The highlight of the event was Leo Stan Ekeh’s renewed commitment to Nigeria’s digital future. He donated N10 million to support the Nigeria Computer Society. He also gave N5 million to Mrs Veronica Owolabi, NCS Provost, in recognition of her dedication to technology education.
Ekeh expressed his vision for a digitally connected nation. He wants every student, from primary to university level, to have access to a computer. The program includes interest free payment options, making laptops accessible to students from all economic backgrounds.
Donors will receive quarterly reports to track how their contributions are used. This transparency builds trust and ensures that every contribution counts.
Building a Future Ready Nigeria
The Computerise Nigeria Initiative addresses a critical gap in the education system. Many schools lack computers and exposure to digital skills. This program will level the playing field and give every child an equal chance to succeed.

This is more than a technology project. It is a bold step toward creating a generation of digitally empowered Nigerians ready to compete globally.
