CloseUp Ignites Bold Confidence at Unilag Carnival 2025

The University of Lagos (Unilag) transformed into a canvas of colours and culture on Thursday, 14 August 2025, as students marked the 20th edition of the Unilag Carnival. The festival, celebrated every year, has grown into a defining moment for young Nigerians who crave music, art, dance, and community.

This year, CloseUp took centre stage as a headline sponsor, turning the campus into a playground of bold expression. With its signature “Closer Is Better” campaign, the brand delivered more than toothpaste. It gave students a chance to embrace confidence, connection, and cultural pride.

The Vibe Bus and Parade Magic

From the opening moments of the parade, CloseUp’s impact was undeniable. The brand’s Vibe Bus, painted in its signature red and white, moved through the university like a rolling heartbeat. Music blasted, dancers in flamboyant costumes performed, and clouds of coloured smoke filled the air.

Students matched the rhythm with excitement, cheering and moving alongside the bus. One participant described the moment as “a celebration of music, laughter, and the confidence to connect.” The carnival became a moving story of joy, and CloseUp was at its core.

A Campus Takeover with the CloseUp Booth

The action did not stop at the parade. Inside the Indoor Sports Centre’s Main Bowl, CloseUp created one of the day’s busiest attractions. Its booth pulled students in with vibrant décor, carnival face-painting, and an interactive “wheel of fortune.”

The energy was magnetic. Groups of students gathered to take photos, share selfies, and engage with the brand. The red and white theme captured attention and reminded participants of CloseUp’s simple but powerful message when you feel your best, your connections grow deeper.

CloseUp representatives explained that the booth was not just about giveaways. It was about building experiences that inspire boldness and self-confidence. For many students, the booth became the highlight of their day.

Beyond the Day’s Festivities

As evening arrived and the music quieted, the carnival’s spirit carried on through memories, videos, and countless photos shared online. Students celebrated the joy of the day long after the event ended.

For CloseUp, sponsorship was more than a marketing decision. It was an investment in a new generation that values authenticity, confidence, and culture. The brand reminded students that connection is easier when people feel bold enough to be themselves.

Tradition Meets Bold Branding

The Unilag Carnival, now in its 20th year, remains a cultural staple on campus. Its ability to unite students through heritage and celebration has stood the test of time. CloseUp’s participation added fresh vibrancy, blending tradition with modern brand engagement.

By the close of the day, the brand sealed its presence with a message that resonated deeply: “Stay fresh. Stay confident. Stay CloseUp.”
