Dr. Samuel Ayetutu Becomes Chairman of NIPR Lagos Chapter

Following the election of Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo into the Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) during the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Uyo, Dr. Samuel Ayetutu has assumed leadership as the new Chairman of the Lagos Chapter. His appointment follows Nwankwo’s transition and will run until the next scheduled election on August 14, 2025.

The official handover occurred on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, during the Chapter’s first monthly meeting after the AGM.
Leadership Transition at a Historic Moment
Mrs. Nwankwo, in her handover remarks, expressed deep appreciation for the Chapter’s support during her tenure. She now serves as Ex-Officio and Internal Auditor, as stipulated by the NIPR Chapter Administration By-Law (Amended 2024). She joins Mr. Olusegun McMedal, also elected into the NIPR Council in Uyo, in continuing to contribute to the Chapter’s strategic direction.
Dr. Ayetutu, who also celebrated the successful defence of his PhD thesis in Mass Communication at Babcock University on the same day, praised his predecessor’s remarkable contributions and encouraged members to foster unity and professional advancement.
About Dr. Samuel Ayetutu: Profile of a Communication Leader
Dr. Samuel Ayetutu is a Fellow of both the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON). With over 24 years of experience in Integrated Marketing Communications, he brings deep expertise in public relations, advertising, and editorial strategy across both public and private sectors.
His academic journey includes:
- ND and HND in Mass Communication from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (1992–1997)
- Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations, Lagos State University (2002–2003)
- Master’s in Communication from Lagos State University (2007–2009)
- Prince II Certification in Project Management, UK (2012)
- Doctorate in Mass Communication, Babcock University (2025)
Dr. Ayetutu began his career in journalism in 1999 before joining the Lagos State Ministry of Information and Strategy in 2000. He has since held critical communication roles across numerous MDAs, including the Lagos State Sports Council, the Ministry of Women Affairs, the Health Management Board, and the Lands Bureau. He also served as a part-time lecturer at Lagos State Polytechnic (2005–2009), teaching Public Relations and Advertising.
Deep Roots in Service and Volunteerism
Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr Ayetutu is a passionate Rotarian and former President of the Rotary Club of Omole-Golden. He served as Assistant Rotary Public Image Coordinator (ARPIC) for English-speaking Africa between 2016 and 2019. Recently, he was named a future District Governor for Rotary International District 9111, Nigeria.
As he assumes the role of Chairman of the NIPR Lagos Chapter, Dr. Ayetutu pledges to foster unity among members and elevate the practice and perception of public relations across Lagos State.
