9PSB Launches ‘Send to Ghana’ to Deepen Financial Inclusion Across Africa
Nigeria’s 9 Payment Service Bank (9PSB) has introduced a new cross-border payment feature called “Send to Ghana”, enabling individuals and businesses to transfer money between Nigeria and Ghana through its Bank9ja mobile platform.
The initiative is designed to enable faster, more affordable digital payments across Africa while expanding access to financial services for underserved users.
Expanding Cross-Border Payments in West Africa
The new feature allows customers to send and receive funds between Nigeria and Ghana quickly and securely through the Bank9ja app.
The service targets a wide range of users, including:
- students studying across borders
- families supporting relatives abroad
- small businesses engaged in regional trade
By simplifying cross-border transactions, 9PSB aims to remove traditional barriers to international transfers, such as delays, high transaction costs, and complex banking requirements.
Powered by PAPSS and Onafriq
The payment feature is powered by Onafriq, in partnership with the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System (PAPSS), an infrastructure that facilitates seamless intra-African financial transactions.
Operating within the Nigeria–Ghana corridor, the system ensures faster, more cost-effective transactions while complying with Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulatory requirements.
This integration strengthens financial connectivity between the two countries and supports the broader vision of a more integrated African payments ecosystem.
Advancing Financial Inclusion
9PSB said the new service aligns with its mission to expand access to digital financial services.
The bank was established in 2020 as Nigeria’s first payment service bank with a mandate to serve the unbanked and underbanked population through technology-driven financial solutions.
According to the bank, expanding cross-border digital payment channels will help more people participate in the formal financial system.
The company stated that its commitment to financial inclusion continues to drive the development of innovative payment solutions designed to meet everyday financial needs.
Supporting Africa’s Digital Payment Ecosystem
The introduction of “Send to Ghana” reflects a broader shift across Africa toward pan-African digital payment systems that support regional trade and economic integration.
As digital finance adoption accelerates, financial institutions and fintech companies are increasingly investing in cross-border infrastructure to enable individuals and businesses to move money more easily across African markets.
With the launch of this service, 9PSB joins a growing group of financial platforms working to build a connected African payments network.
Outlook for Regional Payments
Industry analysts say the demand for faster cross-border payments within Africa will continue to grow as trade and migration between African countries expand.
By simplifying transfers between Nigeria and Ghana, 9PSB is positioning itself as a key player in the region’s digital payments ecosystem while advancing its core objective of financial inclusion.
