NIPR, Global Alliance Lead WPRF 2026 Pre-Event Dialogue to Mark International Women’s Day
The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in partnership with the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, convened a special pre-event dialogue ahead of the World Public Relations Forum 2026 (WPRF 2026) to commemorate International Women’s Day.
The dialogue brought together communication professionals, policy stakeholders, and industry leaders to discuss the evolving role of women in public relations and the broader communications ecosystem. The event also served as a build-up to the global forum scheduled to take place later in 2026.
Spotlight on Women in Public Relations
Held as part of activities marking International Women’s Day, the pre-event conversation focused on advancing gender inclusion and leadership opportunities for women across the communications profession.
Participants explored how female professionals are shaping the future of strategic communication, reputation management, and public affairs across both public and private sectors.
The dialogue highlighted the growing influence of women in leadership positions within the public relations industry while also addressing challenges such as unequal representation at executive levels, workplace equity, and professional mentorship.
Speakers emphasised the importance of sustained institutional support, policy frameworks, and leadership pipelines that encourage more women to pursue and excel in communications careers.
Building Momentum for WPRF 2026
The event also served as a strategic prelude to the upcoming World Public Relations Forum, which is expected to bring together communication experts, academics, policymakers, and industry leaders from around the world.
As the host institution for the 2026 edition, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations is positioning the forum as a global platform for discussing emerging trends in communication, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence in public relations, and ethical communication practices.
Through the pre-event dialogue, organisers aimed to begin shaping the conversation around inclusion and diversity ahead of the larger international gathering.
Strengthening Global Collaboration
Officials from the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management noted that collaboration between international and national communication bodies is essential to advancing the profession globally.
The organisation represents major public relations associations across different regions, providing a platform for shared standards, research, and professional development.
By partnering with NIPR for the World Public Relations Forum, the alliance hopes to deepen engagement between African communication professionals and the global PR community.
A Platform for Future Conversations
Organisers say the International Women’s Day dialogue is one of several activities planned ahead of the 2026 forum.
These engagements are designed to stimulate discussions around leadership, innovation, and professional standards in the communications sector while promoting Nigeria as a key hub for global public relations discourse.
As preparations for the World Public Relations Forum continue, the pre-event dialogue underscored the growing recognition of women’s contributions to the profession and the need to sustain progress toward greater inclusion in leadership roles.
