E1 Lagos GP Announces Sponsorship Lineup, With First Bank of Nigeria at the Helm

The Lagos Lagoon is preparing for history. From October 2 to 5, 2025, Lagos will host Africa’s first all-electric powerboat race, the E1 Lagos GP. This pioneering event is more than a spectacle on water. It is a statement of innovation, sustainability, and ambition. At the heart of it stands First Bank of Nigeria. The bank was unveiled as Presenting Partner, leading a sponsorship lineup that reflects the city’s global ambition.

Stakeholder Immersion Session Sets the Tone

The sponsorship lineup was announced at the Stakeholder Immersion Session. The session brought together sponsors, media, creators, and influencers. Its goal was to align every voice behind the event. The gathering highlighted the E1 Lagos GP identity, communication standards, and long-term positioning.

Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, opened the session with remarks on Lagos’ readiness to host. The Lagos State Waterways Authority presented detailed safety protocols. Teksight Edge also guided participants on consistent brand use and communications.

Commitment From Lagos State Leadership

The Local Organising Committee emphasized that the sponsorship meant more than financial support. Mr. Samuel Egube, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor of Lagos State and Chairman of the E1 Lagos GP LOC, explained:

“Today marks not only an affirmation of our sponsors’ commitment, but a promise that we will uphold clarity, professionalism, and integrity in how Lagos tells its story on the global stage. Mr. Omotosho reinforced the point. He said: “The E1 Lagos GP is more than a sporting event; it is a statement of Lagos’ readiness to lead Africa into a sustainable future, where innovation and culture meet global standards. Our responsibility is to ensure that the people, the media, and all partners tell this story with one voice.”

The session achieved its aim. Stakeholders left with clarity on safety, communication, and storytelling.

First Bank of Nigeria was unveiled as the Presenting Partner. Mr. Olayinka Ijabiyi, Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at First Bank, highlighted the importance of the collaboration:

Other brands have also joined the event. Oando, Spiro, Sunbeth, and Tolaram Group are official sponsors. Under Tolaram’s portfolio, Guinness Stout, Johnnie Walker, and The Singleton will also support the race. Together, these partners confirm Lagos’ ability to deliver a global-standard event.
