Fidelity Bank Expands Food Relief to Ekiti State
A Lifeline for the Underserved in Ado-Ekiti
Fidelity Bank Plc has extended its impactful Fidelity Food Bank initiative to Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State. Hundreds of vulnerable families received much-needed food packs as part of the bank’s effort to reduce hunger across Nigeria.
This expansion is a strategic move in response to the rising cost of living and worsening food insecurity affecting many communities.
What the Fidelity Food Bank Represents
Launched in April 2023, the Fidelity Food Bank is one of the most far-reaching corporate social responsibility efforts in Nigeria. Over 250,000 food packs have already been distributed across all six geo-political zones.
More than 300 communities have benefited so far. The bank’s goal is simple but powerful: provide direct relief where it’s needed most.
Impact in Ado-Ekiti
At the outreach event in Ado-Ekiti, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank, emphasized the importance of showing up for communities.
“The Fidelity Food Bank is not just charity. It is a mission,” he said. “We go to communities where support is most needed. Our presence in Ekiti continues our commitment to being a force for good.”
Community Voices
Local leaders expressed gratitude for the intervention. Reverend Father Benedict Bimbola Joseph, Cathedral Administrator of Saint Patrick Catholic Cathedral, called it a landmark gesture.
“This is the first time we are seeing this level of outreach from a bank in this region,” he said. “Fidelity Bank has set a high standard.” Partner and local clergyman, Reverend Father Michael Domingo, echoed the sentiment. “Fidelity has shown vision and compassion. This kind of support makes a real difference.”
Beyond Ekiti: A Nationwide Movement
Fidelity Bank’s intervention isn’t limited to Ekiti. In Niger State, the bank supported more than 1,500 flood victims in Mokwa. In Benue State, it provided food to over 2,000 internally displaced people affected by the Yelwata attacks.
Each of these efforts is part of a nationwide commitment to crisis response and community impact.
Backed by Strong Performance
Fidelity Bank isn’t just known for its CSR efforts. With over 9.1 million customers and 255 business offices, the bank is one of Nigeria’s most reliable financial institutions.
In 2024, it received several awards, including:
- Excellence in Digital Transformation and MSME Banking (BusinessDay BAFI Awards)
- Most Innovative Mobile Banking App (Global Business Outlook)
- Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria (Euromoney Awards for Excellence)
- Export Financing Bank of the Year (BusinessDay)
More Than CSR
The Fidelity Food Bank is more than a feel-good project. It is a clear example of how businesses can respond to national challenges with tangible solutions.
As inflation and insecurity continue to affect daily life, efforts like this remind us that corporate responsibility is no longer optional, it’s essential.
