Interswitch Hosts Cambridge Judge Business School Delegation in Lagos
Interswitch Group, one of Africa’s leading technology companies, recently hosted a delegation of Executive MBA students from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School (CJBS) at its Victoria Island, Lagos headquarters. The visit was part of the students’ Nigeria Trek, aimed at exploring opportunities in emerging markets and engaging directly with business leaders driving innovation.
Exploring Africa’s Digital Payment Evolution
The session highlighted Interswitch’s 23-year journey from a transaction switch to a diversified technology group. The students saw how Interswitch powers millions of transactions every day and supports commerce across Africa.
Mitchell Elegbe, Founder and Group Managing Director of Interswitch, said the visit was an opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas. “It is an honour to host the CJBS 2025 delegation. This platform allows us to share lessons from Africa’s payments ecosystem and showcase the potential of African innovation on a global stage.”
Knowledge Sharing and Collaboration
During an interactive session, Elegbe shared practical insights on building resilient businesses through collaboration and innovation. He stressed the importance of creating solutions that work for both individuals and communities.
Oremeyi Akah, Chief Customer Officer, spoke about operational excellence and strong governance. She explained how these principles have enabled Interswitch to scale sustainably in a competitive digital landscape.
Cherry Eromosele, Executive Vice President of Group Marketing and Communications, emphasized how brand storytelling and trust have helped Interswitch deepen financial inclusion across Africa.
Academic and Industry Connections
This visit follows Elegbe’s courtesy call to Cambridge Judge Business School earlier this year. Discussions then focused on collaborative research, mentorship programs, and knowledge sharing.
The visiting students described the engagement as insightful and inspiring. They praised Interswitch for demonstrating how an African company can grow to become a continental leader while navigating unique challenges in the African business environment.
Strengthening Africa’s Innovation Story
The visit underscores Interswitch’s position as a pioneer in Africa’s digital economy. By engaging with future global business leaders, Interswitch is fostering mutual learning and building bridges that could inspire innovative solutions for global financial systems.
As Africa’s digital economy grows, such partnerships will play a crucial role in shaping the future of inclusive finance and unlocking opportunities for millions of people.
