Nigeria Customs Sets CBT Schedule for Recruitment Exercise
Nationwide CBT Schedule Confirmed
The Nigeria Customs Service has confirmed that shortlisted candidates will take part in a Computer Based Test between September 14 and 21, 2025. This announcement brings clarity to the second phase of its recruitment exercise.
In a statement signed by the Assistant Comptroller of Customs and National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, PhD, mnipr, mniia, the Service reassured Nigerians that the process is transparent, merit driven and free of corruption.
How and Where Candidates Will Take the Test
Candidates can sit for the CBT from any location with stable internet access. They must use a laptop or desktop with a webcam and full screen display. The application will not work on mobile phones.
Before login, candidates will go through facial verification. The Service advises applicants to maintain a neat appearance to avoid recognition issues during verification.
Recruitment Numbers and Next Steps
The recruitment process has been highly competitive. The Service received 573,523 applications in the first phase. After document verification, 286,697 candidates qualified for the CBT stage.
To prepare candidates, the Service has scheduled a mandatory pre-test session two days before the official CBT. Each candidate will receive two links, one for the pre-test and another for the main examination.
Strict Rules for the CBT Session
The Service warned candidates to follow all instructions carefully to avoid disqualification. The CBT system is sensitive to noise and movement. Talking, whispering, or switching between windows may trigger an automatic logout.
Candidates must stay focused throughout the test. Actions flagged as malpractice can lead to disqualification.
Additional Test for Superintendent Cadre Applicants
Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will take an extra CBT in the next recruitment phase. This does not affect candidates in the Inspectorate or Customs Assistant cadres.
Service Reaffirms Transparency
The Service emphasized that the recruitment process is based on merit. It encouraged candidates to follow official communication channels for updates. It also warned that it will never request payment or conduct recruitment activities on social media.
What This Recruitment Drive Represents
This recruitment exercise is part of the Service’s plan to modernize its workforce and restore public trust. The process started on December 27, 2024, after the agency received approval to fill 3,927 vacancies across different cadres.
By using technology for shortlisting and selection, the Service ensures that eligibility criteria like age and academic qualifications are enforced automatically by the system, reducing bias and human interference.
