Wakanow Empowers Nigerians Through Affiliate Travel Business, Expands Reach with Forum Series

Wakanow Nigeria, a leading name in travel technology, has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Nigerians with income-generating opportunities through the travel business. This was showcased at its recent Affiliate Forum, held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

Themed “Sell Travel & Become a Millionaire,” the forum focused on training aspiring trade partners to leverage Wakanow’s digital tools to earn a sustainable income from travel services.

Speaking at the event, Adenike Macaulay, CEO of Wakanow Nigeria, highlighted the urgent need to create alternative economic pathways for Nigerians, especially in today’s tough economic environment.

“At Wakanow, we see travel not just as a journey but as a tool for economic empowerment,” she said. “With inflation and unemployment threatening everyday livelihoods, the Wakanow Affiliate Programme offers a real and practical way for people to build wealth, support their families, and play an active role in Nigeria’s economy.”

Macaulay explained that the program is more than just access to bookings for flights and hotels. It equips affiliates with digital tools, training, and customer support to help them succeed as travel entrepreneurs.

Intensive Training for Affiliate Success

Participants were given hands-on training on how to use the Wakanow Affiliate Portal, market effectively, attract customers, and maximise earnings from a range of travel offerings.

They also learnt how to sell through Wakanow’s proprietary technology, simplifying what is often seen as a complex business.

Many attendees described the training as “eye-opening” and said it gave them confidence to pursue careers in the travel industry.

Shola Ipinmoroti, Senior Vice President, Commercial at Wakanow, emphasised that the program lowers entry barriers for anyone interested in the sector.

“Our goal is simple: democratise access to the travel business. Affiliates don’t need to invest heavily in setting up an agency or building tech from scratch. We’ve done the heavy lifting for them.”

Through the Affiliate Program, individuals and businesses can earn commissions by selling travel products through personalised portals linked to Wakanow’s vast inventory.

Expanding the Movement to Other Cities

The Lagos forum is part of a broader strategy to build trade partnerships and tackle unemployment through entrepreneurship. Wakanow will host its next Affiliate Forum in Ibadan on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Mauve 21 Events Centre, Ring Road, starting at 10:00 a.m.

This expansion aims to empower even more aspiring entrepreneurs across Nigeria with the knowledge and tools to succeed in the travel business.

Giving Back: World Water Day CSR Campaign

In a related development, Wakanow recently supported the H₂O Wellness Campaign: Hydrate for Health through its CSR arm, Wakacares. The campaign, which marked World Water Day on March 22, 2025, distributed 20,000 bottles of water across Lagos.

Led by the “Hydrate for Health” organisation, the campaign reached malls, offices, and high-traffic areas to educate residents on the benefits of hydration and the need for better access to clean water.

Hydrate for Health representatives distribute Wakanow branded bottles of water across Lagos on World Water Day 2025 to raise awareness on the benefits of drinking water and advocate for improved access to clean water in Lagos.

Macaulay reaffirmed Wakanow’s commitment to community impact:

“Access to clean water is a basic human right. We’re proud to have contributed to World Water Day efforts, helping create awareness and advocating for stronger water systems in Lagos. A healthier society is part of our vision.”

Karz Janet, convener of the campaign, thanked Wakanow for its sponsorship, stating that it was critical to the success of the initiative.

This campaign not only offered immediate support to thousands of people but also raised awareness about long-term water challenges in Lagos, strengthening Wakanow’s image as a socially responsible brand.
