She Code Africa Secures HP Digital Equity Accelerator Grant to Advance Digital Access for African Women and Girls

She Code Africa, a leading nonprofit organisation championing digital inclusion for African women and girls, has been named a global grantee of the HP Digital Equity Accelerator, a flagship initiative by HP Inc. and the HP Foundation aimed at scaling inclusive tech-driven solutions for underserved communities around the world.

With this prestigious recognition, She Code Africa joins an elite cohort of impact-driven nonprofits from Nigeria, Greece, Indonesia, and Spain, all working to close the global digital divide through innovative, scalable strategies. The award comes with a high-impact support package that includes:

  • Six-figure grant funding
  • Access to cutting-edge HP technology
  • Six months of executive training and mentorship
  • Entry into a global innovation network to scale learning and impact

Empowering the Next Generation of African Female Technologists

Founded in 2016 by Ada Nduka Oyom, She Code Africa has grown from a grassroots community project into a continental force for change. With over 62,000 women and girls impacted across Africa, the organisation provides:

  • Technical training and bootcamps
  • Scholarships and certification pathways
  • Mentorship and leadership programs
  • Career acceleration and industry exposure

Its mission is rooted in the belief that African girls and women deserve equal access to the tools and skills powering the digital age and a place at the table in building Africa’s tech future.

A Timely Boost for Inclusive Tech Access in Africa

The timing of this partnership is pivotal. Globally, over 2.6 billion people remain offline, with women and girls in the Global South disproportionately affected. The HP Digital Equity Accelerator, launched to address this $1 trillion digital divide, identifies and supports organisations already making measurable strides in bridging that gap.

“This recognition by HP is not just a celebration of our past work—it’s a springboard for what’s next,” said Ada Nduka Oyom, Founder & Executive Director of She Code Africa. “With HP’s support, we can strengthen our infrastructure, pilot locally relevant learning models, and deepen our work in low-connectivity regions where digital exclusion hits hardest.”

Scaling Innovation in Underserved Communities

Through this partnership, She Code Africa aims to expand its footprint across marginalised regions, using the grant and technical support to:

  • Roll out context-specific training models
  • Scale up access to tech tools and devices
  • Train facilitators and community champions
  • Build sustainable digital learning ecosystems

By investing in the organisation’s infrastructure and program design, HP is enabling She Code Africa to catalyse long-term, inclusive digital transformation, especially for young women in remote or underserved African communities.

“The future of work depends on equitable access to technology, digital skills, and opportunity,” said Michele Malejki, Global Head of Social Impact at HP Inc. and Executive Director of the HP Foundation. “Through the Digital Equity Accelerator, HP is empowering nonprofits like She Code Africa to bridge the digital divide and ensure that disconnected populations are not left behind in a rapidly digital world.”

Shaping Africa’s Digital Future One Girl at a Time

As digital transformation reshapes the global economy, She Code Africa stands as a beacon of what inclusive, gender-responsive innovation can look like when local expertise meets global support. With HP’s backing, the organisation is better positioned than ever to equip the next generation of African women with the skills, tools, and networks they need to not just participate but lead in tomorrow’s tech landscape.
