Airtel Africa supports 3MTT Nigeria

Airtel Africa Foundation has officially presented its ₦1 billion commitment to the Federal Government of Nigeria in support of the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program, an initiative aimed at developing Nigeria’s digital workforce.

During a presentation ceremony held at the Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, the Foundation’s Chairman, Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, handed over the cheque to the Honourable Minister, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani.

In his address, Dr. Ogunsanya emphasised Airtel’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s economic development through strategic investments in digital skills and technology. He stated:

“At Airtel, we believe in the power of technology and digital skills to unlock new opportunities, drive economic growth, and uplift communities. The 3MTT program is a bold step towards ensuring that Nigerian youths are not just participants in the digital revolution but leaders in it. Our ₦1 billion support is a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce and prosperity.”

About the 3MTT Initiative

The 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program is a flagship initiative under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, designed to equip three million Nigerians with technical and digital skills, positioning the country as a leader in the global tech space. Spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, the program aims to bridge the digital divide, enhance employability, and foster economic growth by providing access to specialised training and career placement opportunities.

The initiative, which collaborates with industry leaders such as Aleph Group, focuses on nurturing talents in software development, cybersecurity, data analytics, and other high-demand tech skills. By building a digitally literate workforce, Nigeria is positioning itself as a competitive player in the digital economy.

Speaking at the event, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, praised Airtel’s contribution as a significant step toward realising Nigeria’s digital ambitions.

“The 3MTT program is a cornerstone of our commitment to building a robust digital economy in Nigeria. We are grateful for Airtel Nigeria’s generous support, which will significantly expand the program’s impact. With partnerships like this, we are not just skilling our youth; we are shaping the future of our nation.”

Beyond its ₦1 billion donation, Airtel reaffirmed its long-term commitment to working closely with the Ministry, industry leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and impact of the 3MTT initiative.
