Experiencing PR Conference 2025: Empowering Public Relations for Economic Transformation

The fourth edition of the Experiencing Public Relations (EPR) Conference, hosted by Nigerian Women in Public Relations (NGWiPR), convened on March 19, 2025, at The Civic Centre in Lagos. This annual gathering has solidified its status as a pivotal event in the public relations landscape, fostering dialogue on the strategic role of PR in economic and leadership transformation.

Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, delivered the keynote address, underscoring public relations as a catalyst for economic growth and investment promotion. She emphasised,

“PR is more than just a support function; it is a strategic pillar for economic transformation. After a decade working in the presidency, I can attest to how public relations has been catalytic to the ease of doing business.”

Dr. Oduwole further highlighted the industry’s potential to enhance Nigeria’s global reputation and drive sustainable business practices.

The conference theme, “PR for Results: Innovative Strategies for Business and Leadership Transformation,” reflected the evolving dynamics of the global economy and the imperative for strategic communication. This focus aligns with NGWiPR’s mission to advocate for and provide growth resources to Nigerian women in PR, both domestically and internationally.

Tolulope Olorundero, founder of NGWiPR and convener of the EPR Conference, expressed gratitude to participants and delineated the organisation’s strategic direction. She announced the evolution of NGWiPR into three distinct streams: Community, through the Premium Members Club; Events, with Experiencing Public Relations as the flagship and new initiatives like the Comms & Content Expo launching in November 2025; and Trainings, featuring bespoke curricula co-developed with global partners and Premium Members. Olorundero remarked,

“The need for strategic communications in business, governance, and leadership is universal, and we are stepping up to meet that need.”

The conference also featured presentations from industry leaders, including Paul Onwuanibe, CEO of Landmark Group; Funke Bucknor-Obruthe, CEO of Zapphaire Events Group; Israel Opayemi, CEO and Chief Strategist at Chain Reactions Africa; and Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Lead at Nestlé Nigeria. Their insights provided attendees with practical strategies to navigate the complexities of modern public relations.

Conferences like EPR are instrumental in the public relations sphere, offering platforms for professionals to exchange ideas, stay abreast of industry trends, and cultivate networks that drive personal and professional growth. They serve as incubators for innovative strategies that address contemporary challenges in communication and reputation management. The inclusion of high-profile speakers and diverse sessions underscores the conference’s commitment to elevating the practice of public relations in Nigeria and beyond.

The successful orchestration of the EPR Conference 2025 is a testament to the dedication and vision of NGWiPR, particularly under the leadership of Tolulope Olorundero. Her ability to convene esteemed professionals and secure the participation of the Honourable Minister reflects a profound commitment to advancing the public relations profession. As the industry continues to evolve, platforms like the EPR Conference play a crucial role in shaping its future trajectory, ensuring that PR practitioners are equipped to contribute meaningfully to economic and social development.
